In this video, we are joined by Joseph Conyers, the principal bassist of the Philadelphia Orchestra and a teacher at Juilliard, New York. Joseph teaches how to approach phrasing the famous double bass solo from the opening of the 3rd movement of Mahler’s Symphony No. 1. It’s a deceptively difficult passage to play cleanly, so be sure to see how he approaches it.
