My harmonica rendition of the song "main albeli" from movie "Zubeida" sung by Kavita Krishnamurthy and Sukhwinder Singh and music by AR Rahman. it has been on my to-do list for a long time, ever since I saw this movie. Directed by Shyam Benegal, the movie should be a must watch for all cine buffs.

The song has a heavy arabic inspiration.
A R Rahman has added ’layers’ of music using typically many instruments each one clinging on to their respective theme in the background. On the one hand, there is the accordion accentuating the ’playful’ness and then the regular chords that serve to set the ’mood’ of the lines. The bass guitar once again plays the very critical role of keeping the rhythm going.

The picturisation of the song is also magical ... This is a masterpiece in every sense.

The song was challenging for me in many senses, the overlapping of Sukhwinder and Suchitra's voices, incredibly fast beats, Arabic type of music etc. I used my Chromonica 270 for the rendition of Suchitra's voice, while Chromonica 280 for Sukhwinder's alaap and accentuations. The overlapping of both voices ensured that I had to use multi track recording for this song... I hope you like it

I take music lessons and instructions from Ashok Bhandari. Equipment I use:
