Hey everyone! Here's the next episode of Scales & Tales with Mastering Harmonic Minor. It was last year when I made a series of episodes related to the modes from the major scale, and since that time I've had a ton of requests to feature the modes from the harmonic minor scale.

Technically, I did create an episode surrounding harmonic minor last October during Metal Month, and this lesson can be combined with that one to create a more extensive deep-dive into using and understanding this scale. This lesson is more an extension of the previous lesson, rather than a continuation - but it's all related/linked.

This lesson tackles locating root notes all over the neck, then targets locating the important raised 7th scale degree. Next, we're performing Harmonic Minor on a single string, finding one octave fragments around the neck to help get this scale under your fingers, combing two one octave fragments into extended two octave scale fingerings, applying "octave linking" to locate alternate Harmonic Minor fingerings/routes, not to mention various tapped ideas, and much more!

Needless to say, if you're interested in learning more about this very common and useful scale, or if you've been patiently waiting for me to tackle the modes from Harmonic Minor - view this review/overview lesson as a big step toward really understanding this scale, while also helping you get a jumpstart on the next few episodes in this series. Give this episode a view, leave some comments/feedback, and please subscribe Late Night Lessons - THANK YOU!
