Our "Kalbeliya Dancers" channels are dedicated to Kalbeliya artists.
Kalbeliya (Cobra Gypsy) tribe (Adivasi) is a disciple of Guru Gorakhnath. Kalbelia has the largest population in Pali, Jalore district, then in Barmer, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Chittorgarh and Udaipur districts. They lead nomadic lives. They use a variety of instruments such as Pungi, a wooden instrument which is traditionally played to catch snakes, dafli, gaya, khanjari - a rhythm instrument, morchang, kuralio and dholak, the dancers perform. Folk dance is similar to the serpents of the movements and their community. They are basically snake charmers. It is proud of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity in India. Rajasthani people feel a deep connection with this tribe.
Women in other nomadic tribes wear very colorful dresses, but Kalbeliya women wear fully black long skirts and long-sleeved black blouses with small mirrors, short pearls and white, red and yellow patterns. They also wear jewelery made of silver and pearls. This traditional black dress may change slightly, as it is handmade in various regions. These are all black and shiny flashy dresses.
