Since 2020, Drumeo has been putting drummers to the ultimate test: learning songs on the spot. But in this video, the tables are turned.

Recently, Brandon Toews challenged Dream Theater’s Mike Portnoy to tackle the impossible—Danny Carey’s mind-bending drum part from TOOL’s “Pneuma.” Unsurprisingly, Mike crushed it.

But now, Mike is back with a vengeance. This time, he’s challenging Brandon to learn a brand-new Dream Theater track, “Midnight Messiah,” from their upcoming ‘Parasomnia’ album. At the time of filming, the song was still unreleased.

Can Brandon rise to the occasion and learn this complex track on the spot? Or will he crack under the pressure? Watch as Brandon steps out from the control room and into the hot seat for the challenge of a lifetime.
