Minor Swing with Charlie Baty Circa 2016 (3rd Position)

Sort of a repost. I sent this vid through Imovie and fixed the camera zoom ins etc... Changed it to Black and White...
Missing Charles Baty today. Circa 2016, I had never formally met Charlie but had seen him play a lot with the Night Cats and had been listening to him since I was 16 or so in between disecting Rick Estrin lyrics and harmonica musings... I got this tour booked to play a couple of weeks with "Mark Hummel's Harmonica Blow Out" (thanks again Mark) up and around Nor Cal and further and of course I was late for the van... They we're meeting me half way to the gig or so outside a Star Bucks near Wine Country Sonoma Ca to adjust for my absence... Mark, Curtis Salgado, (RW) Richard W. Grigsby, Wes Starr and Charlie were all waiting in the van for me for like way too long...I was all nervous about being late and I had all these issues you know with my reputation: drugs, gay/bi, prison, bipolar disorder, reliability... all that stuff. I finally get to the Star Bucks parking lot and get in the van waiting for me. I'm seated on the outside of the middle seat right next to Charlie...I was probably overly apologetic and Mark and everyone all assured me it was cool and I was OK but I knew I cost us at least an hour of pre hotel rest, teeth brushing, showering, clothes ironing van decompression... Charlie was silent for what seem liked an eternity...right next to me... I was definitely uncomfortable.
Finally after about an hour of silence Charlie turns to me and says his first words: "So what all have you been arrested for?"... I just went down the list all straight forward and nonchalant like and there's this pause and Charlie says..."I have heard you do a couple passable Django tunes... Do you want to try some of that tonight?"
Turned out he had listened to all these recordings of me going back to 1995, I was pretty blown away and even shy after that... After that initial ice breaker we talked music and chord changes, scales, artists, harmony and more and became friends. I always called him when something was tough musically and a few time with the biz...Like almost all of my friends here I Miss this man also.
