Mike Sanyshyn is one of Canada’s finest fiddlers. He is in demand as a session and touring musician, instructor, and Recording Artist.
Mike has been awarded the Canadian Country Music Association and British Columbia Country Music Association Fiddler of the Year, BC Fiddle Champion 4 times, and placed in the top 3 at the prestigious Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Championships.
Mike is a 3rd generation fiddler. He began playing fiddle at the age of eight and is closing in on 30 years experience performing throughout Canada, United States, Japan, UK, and Wales.
Mike has worked with artists Luke Bryan, Patti Loveless, Jann Arden, Terri Clark, Ian Tyson, and Randy Bachman.
His signature fiddle sound was heard by millions worldwide at the Torino Olympics introducing Whistler 2010.
In 2021, his bluegrass band Jackson Hollow was signed to Mountain Fever Records and has released 3 singles which are receiving worldwide airplay, including on Bluegrass Junction Channel 62 on Sirius XM.

I’m so happy to have Mike join in on the advent calendar this year. I met Mike at the Canadian Grand Masters in Ottawa many years ago and we have been friends ever since. Often I’ll hear a Canadian country artist on the radio and recognize Mike’s signature fiddle style playing on the track. Thanks so much, Mike!
