When we recorded 'Opium Hill' in 2015, I used a fretless jazz bass with a ton of foam stuffed under the strungs to emulate an upright bass, as the tune was written by our guitarist, Victor, with a rockabilly tone and vibe in mind.

Fast forward 6 years, and I've finally mustered the courage to take the leap to pick up the upright bass. I've chosen to purchase a reasonably priced pre-owned Palatino VE-550 off a local trading portal, as the humidity in Singapore doesn't really agree with acoustic upright basses (especially in the area I live).

It's still a work in progress, but this marks my foray into upright bass playing.
