Essgee Records was owned by Hardrock Gunter (SG = Sid Gunter). It started in Wheeling, West Virginia as Gee Gee in 1961, moved to St. Clairsville, Ohio in 1962 and was renamed as Essgee. Gunter later revived it when he moved to Colorado.
