The Grammy-winning artist has been accused of copying elements from Bruno Mars’ 2013 song ‘When I Was Your Man’.
While Mars is not involved in the legal action, TMZ reports that Temp Music Investments, which holds partial copyright to Mars’ song, has filed the suit.
According to documents obtained by People, the lawsuit claims that the similarities between the two songs are undeniable, asserting that 'Flowers' would not exist without the influence of ‘When I Was Your Man’.
The suit alleges that Cyrus’ song “duplicates numerous melodic, harmonic and lyrical elements” of Mars’ track.
