Beginners often work hard on their hand position, or tense up when playing.
It's important to start from a neutral position like the one I've shown in C.
As we become more comfortable playing, we will move the wrist up and down and rotate it clockwise and counterclockwise and use the full arm and torso to affect the playing mechanism.
But, a good starting place for beginners is to find a neutral hand position and then place the fingers on the keys.
Return to neutral any time you notice tension. This will ensure that you don't develop bad playing techniques which can cause injuries over time, or limit your technical abilities later on.
