Mark Moore and Julie Darnell were successful young musicians in the San Antonio music scene in the 1970s. During their first two years together, they performed two nights a week at the "Steak and Ale" restaurant on Loop 410 and traveled in the summer to places like the Colorado Springs "Holiday Inn." Campfires at the Woodland Park, Colorado KOA Campground often had the duo singing for fellow campers.
