Morgan McHugh grew up in the Northwest, surrounded by wilderness, music, and family. From a young age, he was immersed in a world where the lines between nature and melody blurred. Homeschooled through 8th grade, his education revolved around music and nature, with mornings often beginning to the sound of his dad playing guitar or piano. Although he started songwriting and guitar at fifteen, Morgan had been singing and playing piano and violin long before that, performing with his dad, brother, and sister at local venues.
Morgan's debut album, Live at Mojo, boldly pens his entry in the decades-old Americana songbook, showcasing a depth of songwriting finesse that belies his youth. With influences ranging from John Prine to Paul McCartney, and contemporary artists like Tyler Childers and Brandi Carlile, his songs are honest reflections on life, love, and loss. "I write from the heart and from a place of solitude," Morgan shares, drawing inspiration from the summers he spent on fishing boats in Bristol Bay, Alaska. The solitude afforded him time to think and let his creative juices flow, resulting in a haunting and captivating debut. Live at Mojo is an exquisitely crafted album that Morgan McHugh will be building on for decades to come.
