Welcome to Virtual Music in the Atrium! Today we are featuring Michaela Bekenn, a wonderful artist who has performed at Music in the Atrium several times, as well as bring part of Princess Margaret’s Doves of Hope Ceremony.

Michaela Bekenn is a Toronto-based interdisciplinary singer-songwriter, certified sound therapy
practitioner, yoga & meditation teacher, dancer, and storyteller. She was steeped in the arts
from a young age, growing up within the Shaw Festival Theatre community where she spent two
seasons as an actor. Telling stories through song, movement, and spoken word has been a
guiding force in Michaela’s work and daily practice. Michaela currently serves a wide variety of
demographics from youth, to corporate groups, to seniors, offering music and wellness services.
She has guided sound baths and performed at major festivals such as Download Music Festival
(England) and Electric Picnic (Ireland). Michaela has had years of training in vocal technique
and musical storytelling, and often captivates listeners with her raw and honest sound. She is
now pursuing studies and training in music therapy and looks forward to expanding her horizons
within the field of music and healthcare. As a songwriter, Michaela’s intention is to share music
that can accompany the listener and encourage self reflection and community connection.

Thank you to the Tauba and Solomon Spiro Family Foundation for continuing to support this amazing program and bring music to Princess Margaret every week for almost 25 years. Thank you to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation for recognising and supporting the healing power of music.

Enjoy the concert and check back every Wednesday at noon for a new performance!
