Here's the next installment of my Ghibli solo violin arrangements. The middle section of this piece, with the main theme is the part that everyone knows, but it's the two outer sections that gave me something unusual to arrange and experiment with. If you listen to the full version of this piece on Spotify, it begins with an electro-acoustic section that features a repeating pattern in 7/4 with what sounds like a trilling bassoon with extreme amounts of reverb applied to it. I almost left it out because it seemed like it couldn't be transferred to violin, but I gave it a try anyway. I'm happy with what I came up with. The purely electronic sounds were straightforward enough to transcribe, but for the processed bassoon sound, I used trilling harmonics that produce a range of fluttering overtones.
