******************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************** *********************************************************The Phoenix Within is an independent NYC-based alternative prog-rock band, that incorporates diverse elements and styles of rock into their boundless heavy soundscape. The band is fronted by Omar Feliciano and is backed by Nick Narlis on bass guitar, John Narlis on guitar, and drummers James Narlis and Steve Khan.

Their songs are lyrically dense and emotionally charged always walking a thin line between hard rock elements and heavy felt vulnerability. Their themes explore topics such as resilience, perseverance, and the underdog mentality.

Tracks like “Abuso” tackle the heavy topic of being in an abusive relationship and/or situation, but with the positive spin of making it out, while “Contender” speaks to anyone who has had to face down adversity, feeling like they’ve failed but somehow getting through it, ready to swing. Their last single in 2024, “Next” tackled mass shootings and gun violence awareness in the United States.

Their first release for 2025 titled, “War Machines” seeks to explore and raise questions about the essence of human wars, aiming to develop an understanding of its origins, executions, and, most crucially, how it can be avoided. Essentially, this song calls for a reflection on the lessons learned from past wars and conflict to foster a mindset geared toward the prevention of others rather than repetition.

Lyrics:
I think I’m growing numb and accustomed.
To the loss of life to the ones at stake
No need to raise a flag or a warning.
Truth is the jaws of life.
Couldn’t liberate us from this car wreck we call life.

We’re blind and we’re deaf yeah.
To all of the answers
No one can save us.
We’re lost and defeated.
Nothing redeems us.
No one can save us.
No one can save us.

We claim to know so much but control so little.
We claim to be so strong but we’re all so brittle.
Are we just tools with no purpose?
Are we just fools with a complex?

Don’t you panic, they will teach you
when to run and where to hide?
Don’t you panic, they will teach you
when to run and where to hide?

We’re blind and we’re deaf yeah.
To all of the answers
No one can save us.
We’re lost and defeated.
Nothing redeems us.
No one can save us.

Are we so past the healing
nothing redeems us?
(Woah, oh, oh, oh)
These moments are slaps
on the face of a child
because we don’t know enough
to fix this problem ourselves so until then.
