Train beats can be fun to play and are essential to understand for some gigs. Some drummers go years without having to play a train beat, but if you find yourself in a situation where you have to play one, you want to be ready and you want to have a few variations and options at your disposal. In this lesson, we’ll cover some basic train beats, but we’ll also cover some of the variations that I’ve come across and some that I’ve come up with and have incorporated into my arsenal of grooves.
