In July 1979, the revolutionaries forced the Shah to disband his government and flee to Egypt. The Ayatollah in its place. Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini returned from exile in France, installed a militant Islamist government while the Shah was allowed to arrive in New York for cancer treatments. Infuriated that the Shah would not be returned to Iran to stand trial the anti-Shah pro-Islamists stormed the U.S. embassy and seized 66 hostages on November 4, 1979, holding mostly State Department personnel, Marines and local and foreign national employees. Hosted by Colin D. Heaton. Forgotten History is a 10th Legion Pictures Production.
