Post-punk (also known as new musick) is a diverse sub-genre of rock followed by the initial punk rock movement, emerging around the late 1970s. It's known for its rejection of traditionalist aesthetics and experimentation of new techniques, branching into styles like funk, electronic music, jazz, etc. Some of the earliest musicians in the post-punk movement were Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure, Magazine, and Public Image ltd.
