Efficient trumpet playing starts in your feet. Take the energy from the ground up—plant all four points of contact on the floor. Don’t lean back, lean into it. Feel that energy travel from your feet to your mouth, to the trumpet, and straight to the other side of the room.

Efficient playing starts before you even pull the horn out of the case. Set your foundation, align your body, and let the trumpet do the work.

High C to Double C, Low C to High C—it’s all the same. It’s all about vertical alignment.
