Wrist and elbow movement is essential for pianists! Sometimes the wrist should move up and down for extra power and volume. Sometimes it should move in a circular motion like I was demonstrating in this piece, Debussy's Doctor Gradus ad Parnassum. And yes, there are times when it's helpful to keep our wrists still and let our fingers do the work. Piano lesson by Heather Thompson Smits, NCTM @BRILLANTEPianoLessons
