PARADISE ISLAND

Once a year the turtles come
to lay eggs in the sand.
They have no fear of predators,
or of any man.
The beaches are uncluttered
and the water so clean.
An island of such beauty
you have never seen

Everyone is happy
and there’s music everywhere,
No gunboats in the harbor
or helicopters in the air
Fishing boats unloading
down the old wooden pier
And laughing little children
hold shells to their ears.

The beach is the playground for the children,
For pretty girls and boys
In need of no candy with coconuts to enjoy,
And kids don’t need to go to bed,
Don’t have to follow any rules
’Cos every day is Sunday, but without Sunday school.

An island without policemen
Where everyone is in charge
And sailors serve up free drinks
In the smoky crowded bars
While others, they just sit outside
Sipping peppermint tea.
