Rose Petals the visual poem is the creative collaboration from two cousins who grew up together and teamed up to make art. A full circle moment of childhood play brought to life.

“As the artist behind this piece I love leaving it open to the audience to have their own experience and interpretation. With that I also wanted to lend a lens into my world and emotions. Life for me hasn’t always been kind, but with the opportunity to experience these deep levels of pain I learned to swim in my own love. I learned to see the beauty in everything even when my world is falling apart, even when my inner child isn’t seen or heard.

I learned to remember to Love myself and to pour all the love I wasn’t shown back into me. “ - Jessica Joan

Rose Petals is @thesirenandthesunflower Jessica Joan’s Directorial debut & @ellementmedia Jennelle Lazaro’s first artistic debut as a cinematographer

ROSE PETALS the Poem

My heart lays naked
On the end of my nightstand
Beating loudly
Puttering softly
She’s on the edge...

The weight of love
And the lift of hope
Keeping her from tumbling
Onto the Koa wood floorboards

She wonders if the ground
Will feel like home
Back to roots
Back to nature
Because the unpredictable breeze of air
Can be like a wavering
Slap to the face
Unpredictability is magic
Wrapped in the painful unknown
Trust doesn’t come easy
When Life Lessons
We’re learned with a firm hand

Remaining sweet and tender
Can leave you bruised
And without breath
It can leave you bleeding

Have you forgotten how to love yourself?

How are you going to love me?

That’s when you douse yourself
In your own sweet nectar...
