Learn how to play Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting as performed by Elton John. The guitarist for his band for years is Davey Johnstone and he lays down a KILLER rock guitar performance on this. Just crank up the overdrive/distortion, grab a Les Paul or anything with a fat humbucker on the bridge and let it rip. The main riff sounds like it's open tuning, but everything is in standard tuning here.
This lesson covers the primary guitar that you are hearing on the record, there is a second guitar going on in addition that is a lot less gain, but is sort of buried in the mix and not that interesting to me anyway, but I'll walk you through all the main guitar parts that stand out on this great rock tune.
00:00 Introduction / What to expect
01:33 Getting your tone
02:16 Lesson - opening riff
04:32 Lesson - verse chords
05:59 Lesson - chorus parts
09:00 Lesson - refrain (Saturday...Saturday)
13:09 Final Thoughts
