On huge public demand, and as promised, I’m thrilled to present this cherished Himachali folk bhajan dedicated to Lord Shiva: Shiv Kailash ????????
This soulful bhajan from Himachal Pradesh is a beautiful ode to Lord Shiva, the ruler of the majestic Dhauladhar mountain range and the eternal resident of Mount Kailash. The opening lines, “Shiv Kailasho ke waasi, Dhaulidharo ke raja, Shankar sankat harna!” are a heartfelt prayer to seek Shiva’s blessings to remove all obstacles and negativity from our lives.
This bhajan holds a special place in my heart, passed down to me by my mother @ManjulSharma who comes from the serene town of Chamba. Some of my most cherished memories are of summers spent at our ancestral home near Chugaan, where singing this song allowed me to connect deeply with Lord Shiva and my Himachali roots. Every time I sing it, I’m transported back to that place of peace and gratitude.
I had the great honor of collaborating with the legendary Naveen Kumar on the flute, whose brilliance truly elevated this composition to new heights. His melodies added a layer of magic that is evident in this recording, so grateful!
Om Namah Shivaya! ????️????
