In this video, Anish Kumar, one of the young students of SRJ Rhythm Academy (guru: Dr Arthavan Selvanathan) is playing some lessons from Adhi Thaalam.

Anish is 10 years old and lives in Brisbane, Australia. Aside from learning mridangam, he also is learning Carnatic and Western violin, Carnatic vocal music and plays soccer.

SRJ Rhythm Academy is a not-for-profit organization in Brisbane (Australia), that teaches students how to play the mridangam and other Carnatic percussion instruments. It is named after the late Shri Srirangarajapuram Jayaraman Iyer, a senior vidwan from the Shri Kumbakonam Rajappa Iyer bani. The SRJ Students playlist provides an opportunity for our more junior students to have some recognition for their hard work and practice, in a controlled environment that doesn't require them to play prematurely in live concerts.
