I have been teaching switch corners, playing out of both sides of your mouth in tongue block, to beginning students for 20 years. I used to think of it as an advanced technique but now view it as one every chromatic player should learn. Switch corner makes legato leaps possible and if you can play one note out of each side you can learn to play two notes out of each side. In the Tcherepnin 4th movement opening cadenza I am playing thirds out of the left side and switching to thirds out of the right, very accurate way of playing. Contact me for chromatic lessons.
