Composed by Cy Coleman to lyrics by Carolyn Leigh, "The Best Is Yet to Come" is a 1959 song that Nancy Wilson recorded in 1963 on her album Yesterday's Love Songs/Today's Blues. Arranged by Gerald Wilson, it was her highest charting album, entering the Billboard Top 200 on January 25, 1964,and ultimately reached No. 4 and remained on the charts for 42 weeks.

Frank Sinatra recorded it on his 1964 album It Might as Well Be Swing and the words "The Best is Yet to Come" were etched on his tombstone. The song also was played as a wake-up call for the crew of Apollo 10 lunar voyage on May 22, 1969.
