The easy way to practice pentatonic for jazz

If you struggle to find the time to practice jazz chords and scales and wish there was an easier way, then why not give pentatonic a try.

I would not say it’s a hack as you still need to play with a great deal of creativity to make sound authentic but it can be a great way into jazz improvisation for the beginner or early intermediate jazz student.

In this video I take you through what a pentatonic scale is and how I get an extra note by using the related blues scale to the major pentatonic!

The tunes we will look at in this video include

Dinah - Summertime - Rhythm changes - Simple blues

Some of the tunes only use one pentatonic scale, others use more!

The resources for this video are available here for the price of a cup of coffee and piece of cake!

They come in Concert pitch, Bb pitch, Eb pitch as well as bass clef.

I also send you the backing tracks and recorded demos of myself playing the etudes.

There is also a flyer that will take you to the ‘book a call’ page if you may’ve interested in my jazz improvisation coaching program where you get the opportunity to work a lot closer with me!
