From the author:
"There's this idea that seems to be in the underbelly of the music world that singers aren't considered musicians. Even in "pop" music, the instrumentalists are called the musicians while the singer is just the singer. It also seems to be agreed as a general idea that one is either born a singer or not. The truth is that it is a far more learned art. As a teacher I found it both interesting and frustrating that while every other instrument seems to have some form of lesson books for young children, voice does not. More than that, children are discouraged from seeking voice lessons and so often told to begin with something like the piano to learn fundamentals of music. I had a student once, whom I'll call Shelly, that I consider the most challenging student I've ever had. She could not match simple rhythm, she could speak but could not maneuver her voice up or down so she simply mumbled, she would often hit the piano, or do cartwheels, or dance and had a difficult time staying focused, and she refused to sing unless she was singing with the artist of the song. After a frustrating month or so with little improvement, I had it in my head that I would tell her mother to maybe seek dance lessons or gymnastics instead of singing. The hardest part was so many times Shelly told me singing was her favorite thing and she wanted so badly to be a singer. One lesson I decided to change my approach to be a little more direct with her, and in that lesson for the first time she matched pitch. So I went home that night thinking I can either give up on her, or figure this out. So I decided to figure it out.
Thus spawned a method book. I broke down the fundamentals of music and voice for her; how to sing up and what that looks like, how to sing down and what that looks like, rhythm, beats, reading drawing. Within 6 weeks she performed a solo in a concert. Over the years this has been tested with hundreds of other students of all ages and had an incredible success rate. Now with modern technology it has been rebranded and released. I hope it is beneficial to all who partake. Thank you, and blessed be."
