It may sound like an exaggeration but I swear it’s not. If I picked just ONE guitar exercise that changed my life, it’s this one. This exercise basically launched my career as a gigging musician. Picture any pentatonic shape. For this I’m using C Major Pentatonic. Notice where there are two strings in a row, with notes that are only two frets apart. Pick any of those places and do a double-stop hammer on. It’s very Jimi Hendrix, and 60s soul. In this video, Vancouver musician and guitar teacher Blue Morris teaches you how to play this exercise and incorporate these licks into your own solos.
