R'n'B is a musical genre that emerged in the USA in the late 1930s. R'n'B consists of hip-hop, soul and funk music. The term R'n'B was coined by Jerry Wexler who then worked for Billboard magazine, but later on, would go on to become an influential music producer. The R'n'B is popular in major American cities like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, etc. as the genre was mainly composed of everyday life. By the 1980s R'n'B was defining music that included soul, funk, rock'n'roll and pop music. Today, the term can be used to loosely define most songs sung in Afro-American urban music. As hip-hop arose and began to dominate the Afro-American social scene, R'n'B was associated with 'a bunch of love songs'.
