Poem:

Instead, the plain pain persists, persists
it insists on pushing the thick daggers in my deeper, deep
like a tiger tearing sinew
All the holes in me show
till the blood over flows the river
till the scars form over love-wounds

Restless carpenters pound new nails into wood
just like the holes in my soul
my perforated soul
transparent like a fisherman's wet net

Happiness is a fleeting phantom whisked away
by the shadow of night

Instead the pain
instead of sunshine, rain

No matter the discovery
no matter the reward claimed
dissatisfaction pesters and claws
and swoops down like a murder of crows
invading your lonely ghost-soul

Inviting a plague of horror and applause
ghastly embryo of disease of yonder
