The Thumb Wes Montgomery is a great chord melody Jazz Blues in G. Bruce Johnson wrote Blues For Wes. Kevin Eubanks appended the two fantastic parts of Blues For Wes (arr. by Rodney Jones) to The Thumb. All 3 parts make a great and long enough performance for a guitar only song. Because this jazz blues song has all The Thumb guitar chords and melody played together, no band needed.

The Thumb is a good way to get into the Wes Montgomery Blues style. His mix of jazz chords, octaves and single note lines is one of a kind.

Blues For Wes Kevin Eubanks is a great addition. His original is really fast, so I slowed it down, in order to make it playable for everyone. I alos think that Blues For Wes sounds better that way (that's blasphemy, I know :-))

You can learn a lot from The Thumb guitar chords and melody as well as Blues For Wes. Kevin even uses some really sophisticated chords, along with some very melodic sounding ones in the B and C sections.
