Theme three this time is about how to build a song and a solo with few notes and a clear groove.
I play a 12 bar blues , key of D, harmonica key of G, second position.
The main theme is on opening 2 where I use all 2 bendings, and also use breath sounds and dirty notes.
It is important to play the root note of the chords ( indicated in the video) as a reference. Not always but so much that the structure of the 12 bar blues is clear.
The root notes are:
I chord: 2 draw or 3 blow
IV chord: 1 or 4 blow
V chord: 1 draw or 4 draw
This applies to the lower part of the harmonica.
During the video recording I gradually play some more variations but I am careful to refer to the theme and groove each time.
If you want to practice this and you have little experience with this, it is wise to start doing this with a metronome first. Choose a tempo that is easy to keep in the beginning and after a while you can try to play without the metronome. This gives you the freedom to create your own groove.
Have fun!!!
