Manifest Destiny was originally recorded on a fretless bass with a flanger before being re-recorded with a fretted bass. “Jay hummed the basic line in the intro and I improvised the end of it to lead it back round,” said Zender. “I wanted it to sound like the beginning of Logan’s Run!”
