Enjoy my attempt at Deck the Halls. I know Christmas is over but I still had some more video recordings to edit and post! ????

Feel free to laugh with me on my facial expressions. ???? Especially when I hit an out-of-tune note --ohh, I notice them! And if you are pro violinist or in any way better than me, feel free to give me some tips! ✨???? I am by no means a prodigy!

I played beginner strings in music school when I was taking my piano degree (early 90s) and always loved the violin & orchestral music, and had a passion for learning it but not enough time. I finally got a violin and started self-learning in mid 2019. So I guess I'm about 2-1/2 years in. I had a few months of in-person lessons during the first year, and may take some again as I know there's lots to improve. I do a lot of things, so I only practice 30-45 minutes about twice a week. Sometimes extra when I get inspired and want to jam.

???? I've taken RCM exams for Prep, Level 1 and Level 2 and am working on my Level 3. Even though I passed each with First Class Honours, I still don't think I'm very good. But looking back on early playing I guess there's been improvement! ???? I can play more complicated stuff but I just wanted to play a quick Christmas tune.

I'll do a progress video soon. I'm starting to put some violin videos up here because I feel a little more confident with the instrument, and also because I COMPOSE music for the violin! Which I'll eventually notate and publish here. I am a singer-songwriter and piano composer, so naturally when I started playing violin I started creating new music. I'm getting to the point now when I can 'almost' play well the two songs I wrote two years ago! ???? One is a fiddle-style reel and the other is a modern little piece with piano accompaniment.

I'm definitely more inclined and passionate about fiddlling and Irish/Celtic jigs & reels, but I am learning classical too.

???? I follow a lot of violin channels on here. If you are also an adult violin learner please comment and subscribe and we can get to know one another!
