Mariah Carey’s mother, Patricia Hickey, was an opera singer. One day, at the age of 2, Mariah stunned her mother by imitating her operatic singing. Her mom could tell that she had an ear and began giving Mariah singing lessons at the age of four. She continued singing and never stopped.
