"Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" was written by Dave "Curlee" Williams, but over the years the origins of the song have been disputed, sometimes also credited to James Faye “Roy” Hall, and at the time of the original recording by Big Maybelle in 1955, to a songwriter known as D.C. Williams. Apparently, the songwriting credits remain something of a controversy to this day.

However, one aspect of the song’s history is beyond dispute – the 1957 rockabilly version released by Jerry Lee Lewis will forever be the best-known version. He radically altered the original with an energetic boogie-woogie piano overtone, which set the scene for his remarkable career as one of the greatest rock and roll stage performers of all time.

Recorded at Sun Studios and released as a single, the song immediately hit number three spot on The Billboard Hot 100. It went on to be inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999, and to eventually be ranked in 2004 by Rolling Stone as the 61st greatest song of all time.

I hope you enjoy my humble vocal cover of this classic rockabilly number!
