Wicked Classic Cars Ep8: The 1950 Ford Shoebox. That's right, a shoebox.

This is direct from wikipedia "Popularly called the "Shoebox Ford" for its slab-sided, "ponton" design, the 1949 Ford is credited both with saving Ford and ushering in modern streamlined car design with changes such as integrated fenders and more."

This is a bad ass ride with style only the 50s could have brought, This car came with either a v6 or v8, this one had a v8 which I do not believe to be the original engine, it was equipped with a supercharger off a ford lightning. Back in the day this v8 came with a whopping 90 horsepower. This particular ford shoebox has been chopped and was built years ago for SEMA, it has air ride suspension, a custom shifter with brass knuckles, custom interior, custom windshield and so much more, this looks a lot more badass than a typical ford shoebox.

Today we are doing the goodbye detail which is basically a for sale detail. The prepping for sale detail is an important service for any detailing business to have. This needs to be something quick, affordable and low cost to you to make a vehicle look presentable for a sale. Customers do not want to spend much on a car they are selling so they do not lose much off the sale, a lot of them want swirl marks removed thinking that it matters to the next owner or the dealership, they want to fix dings and dents and usually everything is beyond their budget so you have to instill confidence into them that the next owner can deal with the big stuff or that the dealership will likely make these repairs themselves or not at all as long as the car looks clean and presentable!

This car was already sold and we were prepping it for its new home. Typically a for sale detail should cost anywhere between $199-$399 depending on size so basically your average service.

Our service generally consists of a thorough hand car wash, clay bar / paint decontamination, ceramic pro sport application or other ceramic application and a thorough vacuum and wipe down inside the vehicle however today were gonna give this car a gloss enhancement polish as well, knock down about 20% of swirls and RIDS and really gloss up the finish for its new home. The repaint on this car was not great, there was a lot of orange peel, sanding marks and fish hook scratches so our gloss enhancement polish really wasn't going to do much in the removing swirl marks department.

Our detail service took about 2 hours with 2 people and this bad a** classic car came out looking fresh and in show room condition minus the swirls (although most dealership show room cars are riddled in swirls and defects). We are hoping that on its journey to its new owner in transport that it does not get too dusty and dirty again but at least since it is wearing a ceramic pro ceramic coating application it will be easy to clean when it arrives! I am sure the new owner will be ecstatic about how it looks.

This was definitely one of our more interesting classic car details we have gotten. I wish we had done more classic car paint correction than what we did in the video so we could have hammered on that jet black paint and made it look perfect. We love black car paint correction, its never easy to care for a black car but we are pretty good at detailing black cars.
