No matter even if you can’t play a decent guitar solo right now, you CAN improve your soloing ability just by doing what I’m going to show you in this lesson. The key to improving this area is to know how to be efficient in the movement and use all the rhythm and notes that you have at your disposal in the best way to get the job done.
The tips in this lesson revolve around two main principles that work for everyone studying this material, and they will help anyone play a better solo than they’re doing right now. This applies to those who can’t do anything more than jam on a couple of licks, all the way up to those that have practiced soloing for a while.
The key is to realize that rhythm in a solo has a built-in mechanism for getting the solo into the best groove that can offer the most balanced sound. A good solo has a built in mechanical correlation to rhythms and you need to tap this.
The other important element of a good solo is the relationship of notes into the underlying chords. This is ironic since most of us already focus on building our strength with licks, and licks tend to naturally aim at strong chord tones.
