Tzu Ni

Space and sound, sound and body, body and machine, machine and ritual, ritual and poetry, poetry and space.
In the midst of a contemporary society filled with meaningless labor, Tzu Ni attempts to create a fantastic environment or state in which the spectator is cut off from the outside world and confronted with his own spirit and physicality.
The installation explores deeply the situation and environment in which light rays, sound, and the body are alternately entangled in the space.

She is an up-and-coming Taiwanese artist who is also known for his sound installations and site-specific works using light and crystals.
She will be performing in Tokyo in 2018 - 2019.
Exhibition in San Francisco/LA in 2020. She will release her first solo album "liveivil" in 2019 and another album as a unit called Sansheng in 2020, and is active in providing DJ mixes for HKCR and artist residency in Taitung.

BAY CITY ROLAZ

A city-side avant-garde & experimental music unit by Bay Area residents Kyosuke Terada and Kentaro Nagata.
The two improvise to create sounds using synthesizers, sound machines, and effectors.

Kyosuke Terada
Organizer of many important events in Tokyo's experimental scene, and is a member of HUH, whales with Hakobune and extremeOBSN, Exppish with Yuko Araki(Room40,KUUNATIC), and PRAYMATE with Miyabe Kouki of ENDON(Thrill Jockey).
In addition to his musical activities, he also creates two-dimensional works such as paintings and collages, experimental video works, CD jackets, event flyer designs, and music videos.

About"MAZE"
BAY CITY ROLAZ will release their first full-length album "MAZE" on November 24 via CD and distribution.
Ahead of the release, the music video for "SOLID RAINS" by up-and-coming young filmmaker Yuri Saito was released on November 10. The music video has a radical and grand scale inspired by the song.

This work was created by many artists and creators, as is typical for the duo of Terada, who is an organizer of many important events in Tokyo, and Nagata, who works in a wide range of fields, major/indie, pop/experimental.

The collaboration includes Sayaka Botanic of group A from Berlin, Germany, and Tzu Ni, an up-and-coming artist from Taiwan. The track was recorded by Bay City Rolaz at a studio in Minato Ward, Tokyo, and mixed by Sayaka Botanic and Tzu Ni with piano, violin, voice, and electronic sounds.
The album also includes a remix by Yuko Araki, a member of KUUNATIC, who has just released a solo album on the prestigious ROOM40 label and an album produced by Tim DeWit, formerly of Gang Gang Gang Dance.

The album was mastered by producer Nobumoto Nishiyama, who also runs the underground space "soup" in Ochiai, Shinjuku, and is the co-founder of the independent label/event series "0 Kanade (Edition Zeroso)".

The artwork was designed by Ginji Kimura, a graphic designer and DJ/VJ.

BAY CITY ROLAZ is the organizer of many important events that support the experimental scene in Tokyo, and is a member of the bands whales with HUH, Hakobune and extremeOBSN, Exppish with Yuko Araki, and PRAYMATE with ENDON's Kouki Miyabe. The experimental music unit consists of Kyosuke Terada, who is also a member of the band whales with HUH, Hakobune and extremeOBSN, Exppish with Yuko Araki, and PRAYMATE with Endon's Miyabe Kouki, and Kentaro Nagata of Team Frasco, who is also an engineer and performs in a wide range of genres including major/indie, pop/avant-garde.
