In the post-war drama “The Brutalist,” László Tóth, a noted Hungarian architect and recent emigree to the United States (played by best actor Oscar nominee Adrien Brody) is reunited with his wife, Erzsébet (best supporting actress Oscar nominee Felicity Jones), who has arrived in the U.S. from Europe. In this scene, Erzsébet is being welcomed by Toth's patron, industrialist Harrison Lee Van Buren (best supporting actor nominee Guy Pearce), whose propensity for belittling others comes across even in a supposedly friendly dinner. “The Brutalist,” released by A24, is nominated for 10 Academy Awards, including best picture.
