There are triad exercises and then there are jams that use triad riffs and triad soloing. Just doing exercises alone are only one part of it, because everyone should have other ways to study the use of triads in their daily practice routine.
In this lesson, I’m going to cover two areas that EVERYONE should have in their triad routine. These areas go a long way to help build the coolest triad applications and they build a strong ability to apply triads in real musical situations!
Once you understand how easy triads are to view from the chords that you already know, you may discover that you are doing some of these triad applications right now. The bigger question is; “are you doing triad exercises with a focus on riffs and solos?”
Unless there is a technical limitation preventing you from performing triads in a solo or riff, I believe that staying on exercises for too long can be more of a detriment to your guitar playing rather than a positive attribute.
This lesson will cover harmonized key practice for triads in the low, mid and high range of the neck. We’ll learn riff and solo examples that should help you to apply triads more musically. And, the second half of the lesson will put you on track to using triads in popular musical genres of Funk and Reggae style.
