About the Video: "Halfway to Jupiter" is a romance on its last legs giving things one last shot in zero gravity, before its inevitable end. This video is the second Butterbrain video directed by Sally May.
The song was born from the mind of vocalist and bass player extraordinaire Aaron Collins, who composed the music and kicked things off with the killer refrain “Halfway to Jupiter, Fighting on Mars”. It quickly turned into a classic Butterbrain collaboration between some of its core members. The sweeping horn lines were the brainchild of vocalist and trumpet player Brendan Stiles, whose sweet vocal harmonies can also be heard on the track.
Sally May came up with the lyrics for the verses and the crew continued to put their ideas melted like butter poured into the brain trust that is Butterbrain, until ready to launch.
The magical, cosmic dust heard throughout, is Angelo Moore (of Fishbone) masterfully playing his theremin, weaving in and out between lyrics and sound, really rocketing this song out into space.
