Fréderic Chopin composed his Polonaise for piano solo in A flat major in 1821, at the age of 11. He dedicated it to Wojciech Żywny, who was his piano teacher at the time. The work was published posthumously, in 1901, and without an Opus number. It is listed as B. 5 in the Brown catalogue of Chopin's works.
