Therese MacGowan joins son Shane and The Popes for a rendition of ‘Fairytale of New York’. Introducing the performance, Pat Kenny describes ‘Fairytale of New York’ as;

"One of the most beautiful Christmas songs of this past period. It’s absolutely an incredible song."

Originally recorded in 1987 by The Pogues, the song was sung by Kirsty MacColl and Shane MacGowan and featured on the album ‘If I Should Fall from Grace with God’.

Shane MacGowan & The Popes were appearing on ‘The Late Late Show’ fresh from a sold out concert at The Olympia Theatre.

This episode of ‘The Late Late Show’ was broadcast on 15 December 2000. The presenter is Pat Kenny.
