First Time Hearing FUGAZI! Bass Teacher REACTS to “Waiting Room”

➡️ You guys are completely steering my “better late than never” discovery of punk rock, and FUGAZI has been declared a must-listen artist judging by the comments. “Waiting Room” from their album “13 Songs” was unanimously requested, and I enjoyed getting a taste of what I THINK is more “traditional” punk - full of raw simplicity, attitude, and extremely expressive vocals. My favorite recurring theme in this genre is how the bass lines are perfectly front and center, and completely define the song. I discuss the catchy, picked-bass groove, the dissonance it creates rubbing against the guitar riff, and how the two in tandem offer a slightly unsettling feeling as the song slowly intensifies. I was intrigued by the vocals being the most intense song element, along with the PHAT half-time feel in the chorus ????????????
