Here’s a Bebop Challenge with Gerard Presencer! ????????❤️
“In this exercise (which is actually the culmination of a set of exercises developing jazz articulation), I take a journey around G7 using various enclosures around the chord tones and connect using the bebop dominant scale -and a Coltrane turnaround towards the end starting up on the B.
In this example, I find it helps my focus to look at the top center of the bell and keeping a similar/consistent tone through all ranges of airflow. I treat jazz articulation as though it is legato and this helps to keep me flowing and light on my feet when I’m improvising and lots of other playing situations too.”

Gerard is a great teacher with loads of experience and welcomes all to contact him for study. If you'd like to work on improving your playing with him, send him a message. (Contact details at the end of the post.)
Some examples of things you can work together on:
1. Develop your technique with a teacher who will devise exercises specifically for you.
2. Explore and dvelop an efficient playing approach that will show you that real power/endurance/agility comes from a relaxed and focused mind and body that does not solely fixate on embouchure.
3. Players from all backgrounds can study with me, as although I come from a Jazz background, many players from other musical backgrounds have worked with me, as I’m a good listener.
4. If you have playing issues, I’m here to help. In 30 years as a teacher, I’ve rarely needed to change an embouchure, as most problems are fixable when we get in touch with our air and develop a stronger foundation from breath and how it can play the trumpet for you!
