I LEARNED THE TRUMPET IN 30 DAYS (KIND OF...)

one month ago (and some change, because it took me forever to edit this video) -- I picked up a trumpet off of facebook marketplace on a whim with the goal of trying to learn the trumpet to the best of my ability in 30 days. not for a second did I think this would be an easy instrument to master, and it proved to be more of a challenge than I could ever imagine. with the help of my community who gave me countless invaluable pieces of advice during this journey, I was able to learn some of my favorite melodies on the trumpet (errors included). not only that, but I developed a love for the instrument unlike I have felt in a long time. if you are a musician, you know how it is -- sometimes practicing seems extremely daunting and it becomes the absolute last thing that you want to do. however, there was not a day during this process that I did not willingly pick up the trumpet and gladly practice for hours and hours at a time until my lips would not allow me to play any longer.

my technique still needs a lot of work, and thanks to this journey -- I have met a friend who studies trumpet at the University of Michigan who has offered his help to me. I plan on taking regular lessons with him and also meeting up on video calls with my other friends that have reached out to me on instagram throughout the month.
